All the Cool Kids Wear These Sunnies

August 30th, 2012

{Ray-Ban Flattop Boyfriend sunnies on the kid}

Wayfarer whack jobs, this post is for you: Ray-Ban recently gave the beloved wayfarer a much-needed facelift. And here’s your sneak peek of them as modeled on my gorgeous progeny, Yiani. Think of the Ray-Ban Flattop Boyfriend as a sleeker, modernized version of the ’80s wayfarer. Perfection, right? Just like Yiani.

Cool as a Cardigan

August 28th, 2012

{Flying Tomato striped cardigan c/o Sincerely ALC, Forever 21 tank, Citizens of Humanity jeans, Tory Burch booties, Ray-Ban sunnies, Lorraine Schwartz evil eye bracelet, Balenciaga handbag, Mia Jewels dangle ring}

Confession: I’m obsessed with cardigans shoes and handbags and bad reality TV. In homage to said cardigan complex, I’ve devoted an entire section to them in my closet. From polka-dot prints, to leopard spots to decadently soft ones, I have a cardigan to fit my every mood (and I’m a moody chick so you can only imagine how far that rabbit hole goes!). I seriously dig this one from Miami-based online shop Sincerely ALC because it blends some of my favorite elements: Crochet, stripes and coral. Um, did I mention it’s on sale for $39. It is! Who loves you?

He’s Really Really Ridiculously Good Looking

August 28th, 2012

{Urban Outfitters tee}

When my brother from another mother (AKA Esteban, my husband’s biological brother) rolled into my home last night wearing THIS, I just had to share it with you crazy kids. You’ve got to love a lad who still wears message tees from Urban Outfitters — especially ones with messages this ridiculous (and yes, true). On any given day, you can spot Tio Esteban rocking the craziest message tees — many of which are totally R-rated — I especially adore the R-rated ones, natch. I love this particular T-shirt because it takes major confidence and chutzpah to pull it off  with aplomb, which means only one thing: Esteban is a fashion bad ass. And he’s really really ridiculously good looking.

Red, White and Blue without Looking Too Freakishly Patriotic

August 27th, 2012

{Zara tunic, Below the Belt belt, Christian Louboutin patent leather heels, Chanel handbag stolen from LEGs}

Seeing as this weekend was a total bust, I decided to share a throwback outfit with you kids taken in July by my friend LEGs (that stands for Lauren Elizabeth Guthrie, fyi) who happens to own 50% of this outfit. Sharing is caring, freaks.

I feel like every fashion-obsessed person needs a LEGs in their life. You know, the kind of friend you can psychotically text at 2 in the morning inanities such as, “I neeeed a Rick Owens moto jacket so badly that my left ovary hurts.” Or, “I’m in the market for new shades, hook a sister up with a link to buy.” Or, “Who makes the best Fall leather skinny jeans? GOOOO!” And, “Isabel Marant sneakers — worth the spurge or sayonara?” You know you have a friend like this on speed dial. Don’t lie to me.

LEGs is like my personal Rachel Zoe. I can always count on her to keep me in the loop because she has crazy cool style and is 10 years younger than me. Which leads me to my next point: Everyone should have a younger confidant in their lives. They’re full of vibrant life, useful information and off-the-beaten-path advice. While age is just a number, the young folk keep us older peeps in the loop. And they have killer wardrobes to loot to boot.
