Red and Leopard go Together Like Peas and Carrots

October 25th, 2012

{Equipment dress, TJ Maxx belt, Chanel classic maxi jumbo bag, Loubies}

Since I’m in NJ this week, I figured I share a new outfit post that got lost on the editing room floor per say. Forgive me for posing like Tinsley Mortimer in the above picture but you know what? Does any other pose give “skinny arm” like the Tins? Bingo.

Anyhoo, the other day I was interviewed for a story and the writer asked me: What is your go-to outfit? My answer was a resounding skinny jeans, Equipment blouse, sick stilettos and IT bag. Good lawd, I love Equipment blouses. They’re so yummy to the touch, comfy and classic — and the prints are impossibly precious. You can dress them up or down in a jiffy. So when I spotted this leopard print dress by them at Bloomies, I was all over like Honey Boo Boo on sketti.

Older and Wiser

October 23rd, 2012

{Smile…being bitchy will get you nowhere. Fast.}

I really dig this photo of me taken last week by photographer Jipsy Castillo for one reason: It truly captures my essence. People often ask me why I’m so happy and glass-half-full-ish all the time and the truth is, I’ve reached a point in my life where I’m trying to remain present and just be where I am.

And you should, too.

Yes, I know this is a fashion blog and all, but often times, I find myself at odds with what to and what not to post. Time and again, I find myself yearning to write about deeper topics with no relation to fashion and feel, well, tied back.

But not any more  — thanks to a recent conversation with a reader who told me they connected to my posts on meditation, working out, anxieties, mommyhood and the like.

Seeing as the genesis of this blog was to express myself, I plan on doing just that. And yes, I am fashion obsessed but I have far more profound passions. Like, watching Magic Mike on repeat and being able to recite Dumb & Dumber backward, forward and in Pig Latin.

I guess where I’m going with this post is…my blog is one year old this week and it’s constantly evolving and I just want to share that I, too, am changing. I don’t want to conform to any “blog rules” or tried-and-true formulas because this was never my original intention. Honestly, I’ve always marched to the beat of my own drum — so why be conventional now?

The crux of this post is this: I’m really trying hard to just be. And so should you! Should I choose to blog about my newest $5 earrings or how-to say I’m sorry, I trust you will accept me with open arms. Because I want this blog to have a meaning and purpose — just like me. Just like you.

Feathers, Leopard and Road Trippin’

October 22nd, 2012

{Chanel blazer, Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent dress, Jimmy Choo patent leather heels}

{One of my lovebugs}

{Two of my favorite things: Pumpkins and stringy lights}

{Eventually, it was time to do the twist and slip on some leopard loafers}

Hello, freaks! These pics were snapped in Washington, D.C. over the weekend as I was in town for my sister’s daughter’s baptism. I had an AMAZING time as my entire family hailing from Florida, New Jersey and North Carolina headed to our Nation’s Capital for the sweet affair. I choose to wear a not-so-basic LBD with a passel of plumes. After the baptism, my daughter Ava and I hopped into the ‘rents’ car for a three-hour road trip to my hometown of Cape May, NJ. And a bigs ups to my brother Yioryos for throwing up the ENTIRE car ride from guzzling one-too-many beers or a bad oyster? You be the judge.

What’s In My Bag?

October 16th, 2012

{Yes, I need all this crap to brave the day. Don’t judge}

One of my fave features in Us Weekly is the What’s in my Bag? column. And recently Princess Martha did this kind of post and I  ate it up. It’s evident the Peeping Tom in me loves prying through other peoples’ personal items so with that being said, here’s what’s in my bag.

Starting with the pink compact embellished with a black bow, that’s my Les Tai Tai compact mirror with LED lights. Yes, this mirror illuminates dark places and my kids love playing with it. Last year, it was my Christmas prezzy to all my friends. Moving up and to the right, you’ll find my go-to tinted moisturizer by Amore Pacific — it gives me that J. Lo glow like no other and it’s not overly greasy. Next we have my fave baby cologne — Para Mi Bebé perfume. Pinky swear, every raised-in-Miami gal I know has this stuff stowed away in their car or handbag for a swift spritz of bliss.

The the left of that, you’ll find my personalized Erin Condren planner. This agenda keeps me super organized and it’s très cute to boot. Atop my planner, you’ll find my Ray-Ban sunnies and Mini Emergency Kit which includes everything a gal may need in a pinch suck as double-sided tape, stain remover, deodorant towelette, pain reliever, tampon, breath freshener, dental floss, and an adhesive bandage (yes, all that in that teeny neon bag!).

The faux-croc lime green thingamajig is my fave invention of all time — a CardCubby coupon holder. I stow all my gift cards and coupons in this fella. I also carry a Pucci wallet, Altoids, Snooki hair clips, Tom Ford lipgloss in Sugar Pink, my BlackBerry bold (I know, I know, I’m the last Westerner to own one), business card holder and always a pair of statement earrings. Bible, oversized earrings will add vavavoom to any meh outfit.

Lastly, I’m always armed and ready with an Epi pen as my son is allergic to tree nuts — I know, so sad. And I always, always tote a bikini — this bona fide Pisces been known to jump into the Atlantic at a moment’s whim.
