{Beast mode at The Pilates Place}
One of my thoughtful friends gave me the gift of Pilates. She texted me one day and generously said, “I bought you a private lesson and you’ve got to check it out.” And so I did. The love wasn’t immediate, but the more I practiced on the reformer, the more I gelled with the practice.
A few lessons later, I spotted The Pilates Place opened up in my ‘hood (5400 N.E. 4th Court, Miami — next to Soyka) and I gave instructor Jackie Weiner a whirl. And now I’m hooked on Pilates like Miley Cyrus on a foam finger.
Aside from the studio’s cozy, vintage-y vibe, Jackie is bar none, the sweetest yet tough-as-nails instructor I’ve met. Through our work on the reformer, chair and tower, we’re strengthening my core (my main problem area), improving my posture and developing long muscles like a ballerina. Jackie says, “Pilates exercise focuses on posture, stretching muscles and it’s gentle yet effective in terms of losing inches. Clients can expect lean, defined muscles — and won’t bulk up.”
So if you’re highly allergic to the gym like moi, give pilates a try. Thank me later.
Love Pilates…really want to quit work and Pilates all day long. Some day… 🙂 So nice meeting you and your mom today! See you next time!
Tho I do love pilates, I thought I was on someone else’s blog. Ignore…love your writing tho! Have a blessed day!
i’ve taken pilates but not the reformer type…on my list!
I’m totally allergic to the gym and my core is complete shit…soI may need to give this a go.
