School’s out for summer! (Sing the latter sentence like Alice Cooper would, mmkay?) This invariably means the kiddos and I will be beach bummin’ it on the reg and I will be driven to the brink of insanity as I try to work from home whilst Ava and Yiani beg for more Spongebob, chocolate milk and attention.

Real talk: I looooove summertime. Growing up on the Jersey Shore, summertime means burning one’s epidermis to channel sandpaper or Magda from There’s Something About Mary (pick your poison), clambakes aplenty, copious hot dogs (from those dingy hot dog stands lining the beach manned by creepy sunburned specimens), soft serve ice cream coated in cellulite-inducing chocolate dip, cardigan weather at night, loads of lobsta, and making out under the boardwalk if you’re of age 13.

While I adore the Magic City, summers here don’t quite cut it for me and the kiddos — I always experience pangs of nostalgia (the kind that physically hurt) for the Northeast — so we mosey on up to my hometown of Cape May, NJ to stay with the ‘rents quite often. It’s my happy place.

With the first day of summer looming in two weeks, what do you yearn for most?

I’m totally hoping it stops raining so I can beach bum it too! My summer goals are to finish this daunting grad school application and essays galore AND learn how to surf! I’m determined !

Love the photos. I’m about to go through some major changes so I’m kind of stressed, but hoping all will be good with it! xo

I yearn for laying on the beach with drinks from Wet Willys, always and forever. <3
